"Living Peace International" is a peace education project launched by Carlos Palma during the Arab Spring in Egypt.
Originally from Uruguay, Carlos worked for several years as a lecturer at the American College in Cairo. Through dialogue with his students, both Christian and Muslim, the idea for "Living Peace" was born. Since its founding 12 years ago, Living Peace has spread remarkably quickly across four continents. Approximately one million children and young people worldwide have contact with Living Peace International.
This has earned Carlos several awards, including an honorary doctorate in peace education from the University of Madrid in 2022. The Living Peace International office is located in Rome.

During the class retreats, students explore dialogue as a method for their lives as young people, adults, employees, parents, and citizens in a diverse society. It is a multifaceted concept that provides answers to existential questions: Who am I? Who is the other? Who is God? How can we open ourselves to a relational quality capable of collectively generating creative solutions to the challenges of our time? How can we contribute to a more humane and fraternal society in which everyone feels heard, understood, respected, valued, and loved?
During these retreats, young people are introduced to the concept of dialogue in a practical and dynamic way.
Together, they develop the necessary ingredients for a deep and fruitful dialogue, and they leave with the keys to putting this into practice in the context of their own lives.

"I feel happy and have new energy; I'm leaving here a different person."
"I learned that everyone has their own opinion and different ways of thinking."
"I discovered that communication is the key to everything."
"I discovered the importance of thinking before acting, of taking a step back, of thinking differently."
"I learned to put myself in the shoes of others and pay attention to them."
The teachers:
"After these three wonderful days, I want to thank you again for everything you did for our students, who came back blossoming and growing."
"Thank you for leading this retreat with such heart and kindness." It was really inspiring for the students, who felt that we were listening to them, which allowed them to reflect on their life path and grow."
"It was very positive, the students loved it."
